A passionless life is at the root of underachievement in life. We
were able to explore this truth in the first part of this write-up. As a
follow –up to that, I would like to discuss this a little further by
highlighting some of the ways by which you can empower your passion.
Invest in your Passion through:
1. Inspirational Books:
Cultivate the habit of reading inspirational books and not junk. If you
have been able to locate your passion, then begin to read books that
will sharpen your mind. Read anointed and relevant books that stimulate
your mind positively. This is a way of investing in your passion. My
husband has an impressive library today which he started building right
from when he was single. Today, it is so evident what results this godly
habit has produced in his life and ministry.
Apostle Paul wrote this admonition to Timothy a young and single minister of God:
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth
not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2Timoty 2:15)
As singles without much family responsibilities, I wonder how you spend
your money. Make your money count for eternity by investing wisely in
promoting and enhancing your passion. Do not only update your wardrobe
and things like that, but invest in your future by buying resource
materials and feeding on them. The Bible says:
Wherefore do ye spend money for [that which is] not bread? and your labour for [that which] satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye [that which is] good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness ( Isaiah 55:2 ).
Invest in what will make your soul fat. Do not be a mediocre single!
2. Associate With Like Minds:
Your passion in life should dictate the kind of friendships that you
keep. That goes without saying. David wrote in the book of Psalms:
I [am] a companion of all [them] that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts (Psalms 119:63).
This was a young man whose passion was to please the Lord all the days
of his life. He was not going to associate closely with those who had no
regard for the things of God. You also should locate people that you
can rub minds with productively. Relate closely with like-minded, godly
and upwardly-mobile people with whom you can rub minds and discuss ideas
that will further fuel your passion.
Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend (Proverbs 27:17 ).
Do not be satisfied with relating only with people who do not know any better than you or people who do not challenge you.
3. Have A Mentor
Many singles today are not patient enough to be ‘apprentices’ and to
learn under a mentor. A mentor is a coach; a teacher; a guide who is
after your good and is not afraid to tell you the truth in order to
bring out the very best in you. Many want to learn by explanation
whereas the best way to learn is by example. Prayerfully locate people
who are already successful in your field of endeavor and submit yourself
to their mentorship.
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: (Hebrews 10:24).
Your mentor will provoke you to good works. They will call you to order
if knowingly or unknowingly you fall out of line, because they are
there to help you climb up to higher ground. Having gone ahead of you,
they will be able to provide much needed guidance and counsel in the
pursuit of your passion. That is the way up.
Finally, for you out there still wondering and trying to figure things
out, your answer lies in your relationship with the Lord. Ecclesiastes 12:1 the Bible says:
Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the
evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have
no pleasure in them;
If you will today give your life to Jesus then, God will deliver your part in destiny to you and you will excel.
Pray this prayer of faith if you want a new beginning with God:
Lord Jesus I come to you today, I realize that I am a sinner in
need of your mercy. Forgive and cleanse me from my sins, write my name
in the book of life and let your glory be revealed in my life. Thank you
lord for saving me, in Jesus name Amen.
Congratulations! You are now born again.
